China realizes railway speed overhaul with its own technologies

Chinanews, Beijing, Apr. 18 �C China starts to further raise its train
speed from Wednesday on. In order to realize this goal, Chinese railway
departments have made 26 technological innovations and grasped the whole
technologies needed to raise the train speed to at least 200 kilometers
an hour.
It took China three years to introduce and learn all the imported
technologies and make innovations based on these technologies. At
present, China has grasped the key technologies in nine aspects,
including the make-up of high-speed motor cars, technology on converter
and traction, traction control, and the brake system. In addition, China
has obtained all the technologies and their supporting technologies in
ten aspects. All these technologies show that Chinese high-speed train
has reached world advanced level.
Recently, the first batch of domestically made motor cars came offline.
The motor cars were made by the Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd.,
which designed and made the key parts of the train, including train
cabins and bogies, and assembled the train entirely on their own. In
future, 70% of the train cabins will be made by China.
The company devoted great efforts to making technological innovations to
raise the speed of the train.
��We have now signed cooperative contracts with Siemens. Hopefully, we
will make trains that are able to run at 300 kilometers an hour in the
near future,�� said Yang Jinghong, assistant manager for the
200-kilometer-an-hour train project in the company.
China has now produced 52 units of high-speed trains. These trains are
all marked with the sign CRH(China Railway High-speed). The trains have
been running for more than 10,000 kilometers and the test run proves that
they can run smoothly, comfortably and safely. The trains, named "He Xie
Hao" (Harmonious), will become the major type of passenger trains that
will run at a speed of over 200 kilometers an hour in China.
