China News Feb 10Two rudimentary replicas of China's first
moon-orbiting satellite "Chang'e I" are being tested, which
means the "Chang'e project" has entered a crucial year.Luan Enjie, chief
commander of the "Chang'e project", said that initial testing of the
satellites would involve the installation of all types of equipment on
the satellite platform all at once and then carry out tests to check out
all the functions.
The entire initial test will continue until the second half of this year
and then the final phase will begin, the phase that must implement the
framework and steps leading to the launch of the satellite.Luan said, "we
have basically rounded up 26 major scientific experiments that would
begin this year.
Whether the Chang'e I project can or cannot be completed on schedule, or
be completed satisfactorily, will depend on the technical accomplishments
this year."
